Mr Yum was born out of Kim Teo’s inability to cook and that feeling of FOMO you get when seeing a friend’s food looks better than yours (knew we should have ordered the burger).
Kim would find herself scrolling through Instagram and Google Images for food pics before ordering. In a cartoon lightbulb moment, Kim pitched the idea for mobile-powered visual menus to co-founders Adrian Osman, Kerry Osborn and Andrei Miulescu.
It became clear this was something that the hospitality industry could truly benefit from, so we took it to market. We kept listening to the industry and added Order & Pay to our offering. Things were going well. And then covid hit.
It took our team eight days (that’s bullet train fast for tech) to get Delivery & Pickup in-market and ready to help customers without taking the p**s through high commissions.
Next, we acquired MyGuestlist and Sprout to give our customers access to a purpose-built CRM that will up their marketing game.
From here, we’ll continue to innovate alongside the industry we love and personalise the dining experience (and maybe Kim will learn to cook a couple of dishes).
