How Mr Yum helps Sahara Las Vegas win big

Sahara Las Vegas is a hotel, casino, entertainment venue and food and drinks hub. Find out how Mr Yum slots in and helps them increase efficiencies and profitability.

Sahara Las Vegas is an all-in-one destination. It features a hotel, casino, entertainment venues and a number of bars and restaurants. The Sahara’s eateries are where Mr Yum slots in to help the business increase efficiencies and profitability.

The background

We spoke to Derek Morishita, Director of Restaurants at Sahara Las Vegas, who talked us through their multi-faceted operation and how they’ve utilised Mr Yum.

Derek explains that Mr Yum currently features in three of their venues – Chickie’s & Pete’s, Zeffer’s Cafe and Uno Mas. And they’re soon to add a fourth.

Across the venues, they use Mr Yum for a combination of Delivery & Pickup and full table service through Order & Pay.

Fast service made faster

It’s at Uno Mas where Sahara Las Vegas utilise Mr Yum’s QR ordering and payment platform, which allows them to create an efficient yet personable experience for guests.

“Once they get to the table, there are instructions that Mr Yum helped us create, you scan the QR code, look through the items, pick your items, and you pay. It’s very easy,” says Derek.

And Derek has also noticed how leaning on order and pay tech has increased revenue for them by freeing up staff to focus on making drinks and running orders.

“At this restaurant, we only have bartenders, bussers and runners. It makes our labour very low, which increased our profitability,” says Derek Morishita.

Despite being a fast-dining experience, they haven’t substituted convenience for atmosphere. Instead, their bussers and runners help educate guests on how to use Mr Yum and make them feel welcome.

“We don’t want to lose that great guest service that we’re known for and that we want to continue to be known for,” says Derek.

Picking up business

Another noticeable improvement through Mr Yum that Sahara and Derek have noticed is when they are busy. And in Vegas, these busy weekends come along often - especially when there’s an event in town.

“One of the best things that we like about Mr Yum for the cafe is when we have festivals across the street or are busier on the property.”

“People are able to utilise Mr Yum for takeout. This increases our revenue on those days without people going to another restaurant or leaving the line,” says Derek.
